I was riding on the cross-country, galloping full speed ahead. Cascade was amazing, jumping jumps 2 metres high up and down hills, through water jumps and over hay bales. We were going perfectly until suddenly-ok, that was a total lie. Let's start again
I was riding on the cross-country in the first session of the day and we were doing a downhill jump. He wasn't jumping so I was pushing him to go over the middle jump instead of the smaller one. When he eventually did go over it, he tried to turn back uphill afterward and I...didn't. When I fell to the ground the doctor said I dislocated my elbow and popped it back into place. I believe him because when I stodd up the first thing I noticed was my left arm flopped and that's when I realised there was probably something wrong iwth my arm. Actually, the first thing I thought of at the moment was that point in Harry Potter where Lockhart magics all the bones out of his arm and it just flops. Seriously.
Anyway, I knew my arm was at least broken because of the horrendous pain. But I didn't cry. I'm not sure why. Eilish says it's because I went into shock. I personally just think she's jealous because I broke my arm and she didn't.
Ok, I'm going to skip ahead to the ambulance here. In the ambulance I got an awesome drug that you breathed in through a whistle like thing and tasted like Juicy Fruit (the chewing gum). It helped heaps to releive my pain.
It was awhile before the doctors came back to tell me what my x-rays had shown. They told me I had dis-located my arm and popped it back inot place. They also told me that I had snapped of part of my elbow and would have to have it screwed back into place. To find out what I broke off, feel the big bit at the top of your elbow, then move in towards your body. You'll feel a bump and that's the one I broke off.
SO the next day I was in for surgery. I was more scared about getting the IV in than the actual operation. But I was ok, the operation went perfectly and I am getting much better. I had a half-cast on for 2 weeks and then I had it taken off so my elbow wouldsn't stiffen up and I could move it and get a full range of movement back.
It's getting better now and I might add more details later, but I have to go for the moment, so I'll see if I can be bothered later!
p.s It was my left arm, so I could still write
